Data collected

• Waitlist: email address, language, signup page. Purpose: tell you when the app opens. Kept until you unsubscribe or the app opens.
• Account: email, hashed password, progress (steps, reviews, XP). Purpose: run the app and sync your devices.
• Payment: handled by Stripe; we never see your card number.
• “Why?” button after a mistake: the exercise, your answer and any question you ask are sent to Anthropic (Claude) to write the explanation, without your name or email. We keep the explanation for 13 months to check that it is right, then it is deleted.
• Usage measurement, done by us alone (no third-party tool): a random device id, the language, the screen type (phone, tablet, computer) and what you do in the app: opening (days since the last visit, the site or link you came from, for example the reminder email), pages viewed, steps started, finished or abandoned, each exercise answer (right or wrong, response time, hint used), vowel display, review sessions, views of the plans and payment, technical page errors. On the public site: sections viewed, scrolling, links clicked, when you leave the page, demo answers, and the source of your first visit (TikTok link, campaign, referring site). Basis: legitimate interest in improving the service. The device id is linked to your account when you log in, to follow the same learner across devices. We sometimes test two versions of a text or a screen to keep the better one. Purpose: see where learners get stuck and improve the lessons. We only draw overall statistics from it. Team accounts, test accounts and bots are excluded. Kept 13 months, then deleted.
• Lesson adaptation: from your answers (right or wrong, answer time, success in reviews), the app computes an ease score, on your device and, if you have an account, on our servers from your synced progress. When this score is high, a step can skip a few repeated exercises on words you already know and fold an explanation you have already seen; two mistakes in a row and the step comes back in full. The Arabic in the lessons never changes and your reviews stay the same. The score and the choice made for each step are part of usage measurement (same rules, same retention period): we use them, as overall statistics, to tune each week the lightening that best helps you remember the words. If you turn measurement off, these choices are no longer sent and the adaptation keeps running on your device.

Refuse usage measurement

One click is enough: what was measured on this device (and on your account if you are logged in) is made anonymous, the link between the device and the account is removed, and nothing more is measured. Your progress is not affected.
