Book 1 being published, lesson by lesson
Learn Arabic step by step, with an app based on the Madinah method.
On your phone, with the sentences of the Madinah books in their order, starting with Book 1. Each word comes back right before you forget it.
Free, no account needed. No credit card required.

3 of 28 lessons playable, for free. The next ones are coming soon.
Three questions from lesson 1, right here
The sentences come from the book. If you can read them, you are ready to start. If not, learn the alphabet first: Book 1 assumes you know the letters.
Question 1 of 3
Lesson 1 goes on with the Arabic keyboard and the harakat.
Continue lesson 1What happens when you study alone
Three lessons later, the words of lesson 1 no longer come back. Nobody spots the wrong harakah, so it becomes a habit. By lesson 4, rules arrive faster than you can fix them in memory, and one busy week is enough to stop everything.
Picking it up again often means starting over at lesson 1, with words to learn again.
What you do in one step

You recognize, then you write
Each page of the book becomes a short step: the rule, then the words and sentences to recognize. Then you type the answer on the built-in Arabic keyboard and place the vowels. A wrong harakah is flagged at once.
Reviews arrive at the right time
The FSRS algorithm, the one Anki also offers, works out when each word is about to slip away and brings it back just before. Reviews stay free.

Lessons you have opened and your reviews work offline, on the subway as on a plane.
The book’s text, nothing invented
The sentences come from the Madinah books and follow their order, one page per step. The harakat are checked against the grammar, and a lesson not yet proofread word by word says so in the app. No rule is simplified to the point of becoming wrong: that is what lets you understand classical texts and the Quran later.

Your questions, straight answers
Do I need to read Arabic already?
Yes, at least decode the alphabet. Book 1 assumes you already recognize the letters and the vowels.
Do I need the paper book?
No. The app uses the sentences of the Madinah books and the order of their lessons; use it on its own or with the book open beside you.
Does it cost anything?
No: lessons 1 to 3 and reviews are free, no card needed. The next lessons are coming soon.
Is there audio and pronunciation?
Not yet. The app trains reading, writing and meaning. It does not teach recitation or tajwid.
Who is behind Medina Way?
An independent project with no ads. It is not linked to the Islamic University of Madinah or to the book’s publishers. On data: your email address and your progress, for syncing, plus anonymous audience measurement hosted on our own server. No advertising trackers. Any question, or a mistake you spotted: medinaway.com@gmail.com.
Which devices, and does it work offline?
Any recent browser: phone, tablet or computer, and you can add it to your home screen like an app. Lessons you have opened and reviews work offline, and your progress syncs when the network is back.
